Our Spooky Home

Design     |    October 3rd, 2016

Happy first Monday of October! October is without a doubt my favorite month of the year, and with cooler weather here in Texas my spirits are high! This weekend, we spent Saturday afternoon decorating the front of our house. I cannot believe I finally have a yard to decorate! I may have gone a little crazy because of my excitement, but overall we are so happy with the final results.

I decided to go slightly Witch themed after finding a couple of brooms for a steal at the thrift store. I cut, stained, distressed and hand painted the ‘Broom Parking’ sign and am in love with the final result!

Our witch’s cauldron includes dead roses, some bones and a ‘jar of unicorn horn.’ The unicorn horn jar was a super simple DIY with a Target dollar spot apothecary jar, a printed decal and Modpodge. The chalkboard I hand painted from a Dollar Store find.

The bats I created from black craft foam and hot-glued them directly to the bricks. The heads were leftovers from a cutting class at the Salon next to my mom’s office. Such a delightful addition to the garden.

Each of the tombstones I crafted from plywood with my handy dandy jigsaw. My dream is to grow the ‘cemetery’ every year. (Did I mention I love Halloween?)

The skull here ended up a bit alien…oh well.

This concrete planter normally lives on the porch. My plan is to move it back with a few more pumpkins after Halloween is over for some freshened up fall decor.

That’s our spooky home! I can’t wait to have some friends over for hot cider and pumpkin cheesecake soon!
