Two Years in Texas

Events     |    July 1st, 2016

On this day two years ago, my Mini Cooper rolled into Dallas packed to the brim with my belongings, my cat, my dog and my own excitement for a new adventure. I had spent three days alone, driving 1,700 miles through California, Arizona, New Mexico and finally Texas. I had no idea whether I was here for the long haul or just for a year or so.

To be honest not a thing ended up following my original ‘plan.’ From my living situation to my job to my social life I quickly realized that everything I had laid out for myself in the weeks before my departure was going to fall apart if I couldn’t adapt and adapt quickly.

Thankfully a supportive group of friends and family kept me motivated and encouraged, even with so many states in between us. Finding yourself without a real plan in a new and mostly unfamiliar city can be nerve wracking to say the least, but with perseverance, a strong sense of self and some hard work anyone can find their niche, meet great people and call that new city home.

Today I’m living in a house that my boyfriend and I own, am taking a new direction with my career and continuing to expand the Faded Sentiments blog and brand. If you had told me where I would be two years ago when I left Sacramento, CA for big, bad Texas, I may not have believed you, but I am so happy with where this journey has taken me and cannot wait to see what happens next.
